“Guys, tonight I really want to party!” my drunken vocal cords blared. After much alcohol and card games, we dragged ourselves out of the house and onto the street. It’s quiet, as it’s past midnight. “And where to now?” asks the swaying Australian. “I’m hungry!” coughs the Englishman, who drinks the most of all. “Forget it. Just like a musically sophisticated party night in the middle of the week! At most a bar,” I say desperately, because I realize one thing: I’m not in Berlin. So the night ends in a bar with bad pop music. Promptly, I feel homesick in Asia and realize how spoiled I am.
Berlin… what a unique terrain you are! For all who haven’t noticed yet, we live in a great city! Have you ever noticed how cheap it is here compared to other European capitals? We can consume foolishly, live out our creativity, and let loose wildly! For example, I missed reading colorful walls and dancing to techno with friends… others perhaps the Wall. I just want to say that during my trip, it became even clearer to me how free one can be here. Almost boundless possibilities, and we should appreciate this, because if we’re not careful, a lot will go wrong in our swamp. The city is changing more and more through its sale, because they also realize how cool and profitable Berlin is! I’m not a black-masked person with a clenched fist, but we should just wake up from our excess and surplus now and then and prevent ourselves from becoming like every other city. We are spoiled. I love it!
Hip Hop is so dead. Ten lines to honor the veterans of the Nineties.

In contrast to club culture, the Berlin radio landscape, Europe's most fiercely contested radio market, looks quite bleak for lovers of electronic music. Although Bar25 offers an internet stream with recordings and live broadcasts from the ranch, the institution for electronic music on Berlin radio, Marusha's Rave Satellite, was already discontinued in August 2007.
Russia has more to offer. Since 2002, Moscow's Deepmix has offered an internet stream with selected DJ and live sets, mostly by Russian artists. 24/7, there was deep and tech house, minimal techno, and electronica for the ears. Free, worldwide. Unfortunately, Deepmix today is almost exclusively limited to deephouse.
The web broadcaster RTS.FM, which emerged from Radio Tochka, focuses on the genres that made Deepmix so famous and popular. However, the newcomer does not offer a conventional audio stream but shows almost daily live video streams from the Moscow studio or from affiliated clubs. In addition to the many Russian resident DJs like Amesh, bvoice, or Anrilov, who were also able to make a name for themselves in the scene here through Deepmix, internationally renowned artists like Minilogue, John Tejada, or Radioslave also showcase their skills. The fact that artists can introduce themselves in a short video message and on their own profile pages with biography and photos is a really nice bonus. Registered users can watch the recordings of the shows at any time on the website, which is entirely designed in Flash. However, registration requires an invitation, which can be obtained with a friendly email.
